WordPress 4.5.3, a security update, was released today. The update addresses security issues for all previous versions, so update immediately. What To Find In WordPress 4.5.3 Problems include redirect bypass in the customizer, two different XSS problems, password change via stolen cookie, and more. Jetpack Update 4.0.4 Fixes Security Vulnerabilities
At the beginning of May, Jetpack released 4.0.3 to fix a security issue. Now, the plugin has offered another update, 4.0.4, targeted at three more vulnerabilities. The changelog notes security fixes to post by email, an XSS vulnerability in the Likes module, and the REST API/Contact form. Partial Merge Approved For Shiny Updates Plugin
WordPress.org today announced that Shiny Updates V2, which provides users with a smoother experience for managing plugins and themes, is approved to be partially merged in WordPress 4.6, slated for release in August. The announcement comes after a team meeting earlier today. “The changes that will be merged are install, update, and delete for themes and plugins in single and multisite,” the announcement said. “This affects plugin.php, plugin-install.php, import.php, themes.php, themes-install.php, and the “more-detail” modals in those screens.” The team will have to work quickly to get the core patch committed by June 15.
