Yoast Takes Stake in WordProof
Yoast founder Joost de Valk and current Yoast CEO Marieke van de Rakt have invested in Dutch startup WordProof. WordProof is aimed at giving consumers a way to validate information using the Timestamp Ecosystem. This gives readers and search engines a way to quickly find sources for content. “Joost and Marieke bring valuable expertise that will help us create a universal timestamp standard, assuring that search engines can index the website in the best possible way,” WordProof-founder and CEO Sebastiaan van der Lans said. Mike Little to Appear on Genesis Community Livecast
WordPress co-creator Mike Little will appear on the rebooted Genesis Community Livecast on August 25 at 11 am EST. Little will be joined by Genesis community members, Anita Carter and Sandee Jackson. The conversation will center around issues Black WordPress and Genesis community members face. According to the release, “The issues of injustice and under-representation facing the Black community are of course felt on the macro level, but make no mistake, these are issues that are real and present in the WordPress and Genesis communities today.” The episode will premiere on YouTube Live on August 25th.

WordCamp US 2020 Cancelled
Organizers of WordCamp US 2020 announced that this year’s virtual event will be canceled. “It is with heavy hearts that we have made the decision to cancel this year’s WordCamp US event,” organizers said in a blog post. “In light of the continued pandemic, online event fatigue for attendees, organizers, and volunteers, and the desire for WordCamp experiences to be traditional WordCamp experiences, we have made the difficult decision to stop this year’s planning, and cancel WordCamp US 2020.” In May the team announced the event will go fully virtual due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
