I thought it would be fun for the WP Daily community to share their own THANK YOU to WordPress and the entire WordPress community for a great 10 years. Let’s have a go, shall we?
Posthaven Introduces Galleries, Yawn.
Galleries. Who doesn’t love galleries? We use them all the time here and with some of the new carousel options for thumbnails and the like it’s getting pretty slick to use it via Jetpack and the many other plugins out there that’ll give you those features. But WordPress isn’t the only one thinking galleries, some like Posthaven are introducing their version and it’s not too bad, right?
Most Crazy (Awesome) WP-Related Paraphernalia?
We are so very close to May 27th that it hurts! I’m so excited about all of the amazing 10 Year Anniversary Parties that are happening all around the globe, especially ours here in Atlanta – it’s actually really neat to see that we’re in the Top 10 biggest parties worldwide. This fact is both awesome and sad since I wouldn’t consider Atlanta to be one of the largest WordPress cities out there, but perhaps we’re a passionate bunch. In any case, we’re having a nice shindig planned and have a custom WordPress cake being created (I hope… who’s overseeing that again guys?!) and […]
Homework: Update Your Gravity Forms, WPtouch Pro
It may be too early in the morning for you to have had time to update but you’re going to want to definitely take a look at your dash and notice two updates to two very popular plugins came in late yesterday. The first is that Gravity Forms v1.7.4 has dropped which has resolved some issues with notifications as well as brought a few additions: Added support for object methods to the JavaScript hook framework. Updated POT file translation file. Fixed bug in sending notifications when a form field is chosen. Great work guys! Secondly, you’re going to want to […]
/extend/ – Where Did You Go?
Any of you notice we removed /extend/ from http://t.co/WWjyx49GLS URLs? Figured there’d be more rejoicing. http://t.co/VdRnR1srWt — Andrew Nacin (@nacin) May 22, 2013 I noticed this the other day as I was linking up some posts that were referencing some great plugins and the “/extend/” part of the URL was gone! As one reply mentioned:
Nobody Really Loves WordPress… Right?
You hear it all the time: I love WordPress! I love everything about WordPress! WordPress is so awesome that I’m falling in love with it! You heard it yesterday perhaps. Today even. You’ve said it yourself, right. For the most part it is just small talk so nobody really loves WordPress. Or could someone really love WordPress?
The Tavern Wizard Revealed: It's Matt Mullenweg
Well, the great Oz has revealed himself, a prediction that many historically professed to be true but one that I couldn’t as easily see myself. So I asked the question publicly: Who really is the man behind the curtain over at WP Tavern? It’s been revealed: Matt Mullenweg is the one who bought, and now owns, WP Tavern. It was also revealed that he’s also who’s financed the future of WeblogToolsCollection as well as Mark Ghosh took his leave. So what’s the plan? Archive WBTC and make Tavern a “third place” for community:
TinyPNG: Simple Image Compression for Bloggers
Today’s quick and easy tool post is for those that are constantly uploading PNG files, like us here at WP Daily. If you’ve ever taken a screen grab or screen capture of a file or an application then you’re familiar with the relative size that can be created. Well, to save you some bandwidth on your site as well as precious load time for your users there’s a simple solution for you:
Learn Objective-C for iOS, Mac Apps Retro Style
Is it that time of the year to start learning something new? Are you stuck in your career and need a way out of that blackhole of a vocation? Perhaps it’s seriously time to reboot yourself and perhaps learning a new software language is where it’s at. Why not Objective-C? It’s the primary language that powers much of the iOS and Mac apps out there: Objective-C is a general-purpose, high-level, object-orientedprogramming language that adds Smalltalk-style messaging to the C programming language. It is the main programming language used by Apple for the OS X and iOSoperating systems and their respective APIs, Cocoa and Cocoa Touch. I’ve used it previously for my own Mac and iPhone-related apps, including one that I’m […]
