Let’s just put it plainly – Shopify is kicking serious tail. A very well-known eCommerce solution it’s been growing like wild-fire and last year they saw some incredible numbers in their posted infographic, detailing things like a total of 7.8MM customers who placed 9.9MM orders worth $742MM in revenue. Yikes. The point of even covering it here on WP Daily is because you, like me, may have recommended this service or at least compared it to many WordPress solutions in your research for a competent eCommerce solution. In other words, I shared Shopify with every single client that came to […]
Justin Timberlake Loves WordPress
Apparently this matters – and, why not? Because he’s using WordPress for his site, wah! Justin Timberlake released a new single recently, Suit & Tie, and he’s made a big deal about it, even doing a pre-release video to hype it up:
January Google Hangout Recap
Yesterday I had the chance to connect with a few of the contributors here at WP Daily and meet them at least digitally in our Google Hangout – it was a great time of community, collaboration, and ideation as we came together to discuss how WP Daily has been doing in the last few months as well as visioncast for the future. We received some incredible feedback and our contributors didn’t hold back – I’m so thankful that we’ve got such a passionate group that are willing to take the time to make this site even better! I had two […]
iThemes Turns 5, Expresses Gratitude for the Journey
I honestly can’t believe that iThemes has been around for 5 full years! That’s such a long-time comparatively for many WordPress-centric businesses! They recently celebrated with a big post citing some of the neat milestones that have occurred throughout the years and where they are now: As I sit in my office at iThemes HQ in Oklahoma City today (our third for the company), working with a team of 24+ dedicated, passionate professionals, having released hundreds of cool products I personally love using, I am overwhelmed by gratefulness for the journey. Congratulations guys and here’s to another 5 years – we’ll […]
First Work Day in the New Office
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ab0gdPnru4 Stoked to be sharing the fact that today is the very first day where I’ll spend my entire work day in the new office for WP Daily! Sure, it’s not 100% complete but I couldn’t wait – and the fact that I walked in today and saw a strong wifi signal made that decision super-easy. Plopping down in the corner I shot the above video and realized that our team here is one step closer to realizing one of larger goals of this year: Simply to work together physically in the same location. We love being distributed but there’s nothing more […]
Poster App Sees Version 2 Released into the Wild
We’ve reviewed Poster App before and we were pretty stoked to see this curious and good looking implementation and now they’ve announced the release of their version 2 which provides a number of improvements and bug fixes that a number of users had issue with. There are a number of great apps out there but this one brings an elegance that has been fairly unique. Here are some of the new features that have been released in this version 2.0: Support for custom post types. Enable them for any WordPress.org blog within the settings. Poster is now localized for English, […]
On Name Changes: Jane Wells Now Jen Mylo
Talk about a major change! Jane Wells, one of the more prominent and well-known Automatticians out there has shared that she’s changing her online alias to be more “accurate.” This isn’t just a “Jane 2.0” move, as she shares on her blog, it’s a somewhat emotional decision that has a lot of story to it – which was supposed to be temporary in the first place: My name is not really Jane. I started going by Jane instead of Jen in 2001 when I moved to Seattle and took a job at Microsoft. How did I wind up as Jane? Needed […]
Gravatar Adds Korean, French Translations
Gravatar stands for “globally recognized avatar” which wouldn’t be totally true if it weren’t also globally accessible everywhere if it was just in english – especially in terms of their landing and product page. So with the recent release of French and Korean translations adoption can increase even more in those areas of the world. Being ethnically korean myself it’s always a pleasure to see my culturally native language on an Automattic property! To be sure though, my first language is far-and-away english but it’s satisfying to know that there are incredible volunteers that are contributing their time to help provide these very valuable […]

Volunteer Meeting for WordCamp Atlanta
As we shared earlier this month, our team here at WP Daily are helping to lead and organize WordCamp Atlanta and every day that passes is one more day closer to the event. But we, like many other WordCamps, need the help of the incredible volunteer base that exists in our community to pull it off – and I’m always amazed at how it all comes together in the end. It’s one of the best things about our community and it’s the thing that’s really going to speak to those that have not yet experienced WordPress and keep them coming back. […]
