What’s on your WordPress Desk?
The perpetual argument- Mac or PC? Coffee or Tea? Messy or Clean? I set out to solve these great questions (or at least take an unrepresentative, statistically irrelevant visual survey for fun). A number of folks in the WordPress community of developers and designers were asked to send over photos of their desks as they were at the moment, no cleaning allowed. Now you can get a behind-the-scenes look at all the glorious screens, tchotchkes, and other developer do-dads that power the WordPress community and answer the above questions for yourself! Thanks to the following community friends who took a […]
Bacon Ipsum – Better Lorem Ipsum Built on WordPress
Anyone that’s done any type of development for clients is familiar with the Lorem Ipsum generators that are out there. If you’re not familiar, suffice it to say that Lorem Ipsum generators are utilities that designers and developers use to generate place holder text. It’s simply meant to give a look and feel of what the website will look like once the user has populated the text. One of the more popular applications for doing this is Bacon Ipsum.

My Moving Checklist
Checking out the various blogs, themes, plugins, and other work that people are doing with WordPress is always fun, but as WordPress grows as a true framework for application development, it’s really interesting to see what developers are doing. My Moving Checklist is a killer example of a web application built on WordPress.
The Future of Interaction Design
The next 18 minutes might prove to be incredibly useful and insightful for those that live and breathe interface, interactive, and product design and those who just love to contemplate user experience – this is a conversation of what the future might look like in our digital world. In fact, I couldn’t help but think about WordPress and the advancements in those areas over the last few years which I believe have helped contribute to the growing adoption rate. A few very notable quotes and thoughts that really hooked me from people that are really testing the boundaries of interaction […]
Manage Your Gravatar with iGravatar Mobile App
Gravatars are great as they are a visual cue and reference for your online identity – it’s hard to imagine blogs without this signal now that they have been around for some time! Managing them is typically done through the web interface but now there’s another mobile alternative called iGravatar that allows you to manage it via your iOS device (Android coming soon). Upload images directly for your use, assign them to the right email address, and be on your merry way:
3.6 Planning Session Tomorrow: Start Your Engines!
Mark Jaquith, the lead for 3.6, has shared that the regularly scheduled IRC meetings start tomorrow with a big scope and planning session @ 21:00 UTC. The theme? “Content Editing” which will get a number of you pretty psyched including me who would love to features that refine and really challenge the editorial process (workflows, revisions, user management, etc). Could be a doozy. Make sure you’re there if that floats your boat and start considering how much time you’d love to invest and help Mark out!

We want to encourage you to do so as there are immeasurable benefits to you writing, especially if you own your own […]
WordPress.com by the Numbers in 2012
With an overview of 2012 via WordPress.org I thought it would be neat to take a look at what 2012 looked like for WordPress.com – specifically via metrics, a bit of analytics, and some very basic math. There’s some neat things that have happened cumulatively that are worth noting:
