The WordPress Weekend Roundup
It’s been a very full second week of January as people are definitely back in the saddle and writing and publishing great content. Businesses are attempting to hit their stride as they shake off the dust from the winter break and products are being released left and right. Fantastic for all of us as we continue to grow our own businesses, personal, and professional lives – it’s just tough to keep up with it all! We’ve got nearly 50 resources in this one. Hope you guys have a fantastic weekend and make sure you check out WordCamp Victoria’s Live Coverage as well!
Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup – 1.11.2013
Does everyone know what time it is? Audience ( “Roundup Time” ). That’s right! WP Daily is proud to present, Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup! (cheese, I know) It has been a pretty awesome week for me and I hope it has been for you. I’m sure it is for these developers. Way to end out your week guys and gals!
Do You Have Blog Post Guidelines?
When you publish a blog post, how do you cite your source? How about the images you use? When you use a blockquote, do you add the quotation marks or are they assumed? H1, H2 or H3? Should I go on? I think you get the idea. As boring and dry as “post guidelines” sound, establishing them is more important than choosing the right WordPress theme and figuring out which plugins you should be using. Themes can be changed, plugins can be switched, but once you’ve written multiple blog posts day after day, good luck going back through your blog […]
Call Hello Dolly!
If you were to call Dolly, what’d be the first thing you’d say to her? Hello, of course.
Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup – 1.10.2013
Another day and yet another Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup! It seems that quite a few developers were busy!
A Look at Train'rs and Their Creative Use of WordPress
We are always on the lookout for creative implementations of WordPress that are a little more “outside the box” especially as people begin to think more critically about frameworks and WordPress as an application. Occasionally we also stumble neat and unique representations of design, UI and UX as well as creative use-cases in not-so-often-thought-of niches and markets. One example of this is Train.rs, a management solution for personal fitness trainers for their clients. Pretty neat, right? They are currently looking for active Beta testers and we got a first-hand look at it recently. To start, the premise is quite simple: […]
Start Exercising with Lorelle VanFossen
Lorelle VanFossen, prolific WordPress blogger-extraordinaire, has started a new initiative to get you (and everyone else you know) in terrific shape – at least related to your blog. She’s calling it “Blog Exercise” and she’s gunning to get you back on track: Blog Exercises are designed to strengthen your blogging abilities… consider this Yoga for your blog. So what will this look like in the days to come? Simple – she’ll be releasing blogging exercises five times a week. Some of them wil be rather simple that most bloggers will be able to engage with quickly and directly while others she […]
Creative Market: Etsy-like Marketplace for WordPress, More
We are always fascinated (and at times concerned) with the growth of the theme marketplace at large – it seems that everyone and their brother is coming up with not just one theme but multiple themes and then throwing them into an existing marketplace or starting their own. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it makes sense for many authors to do that which helps streamline their business process and can save them an incredible amount of time and energy, but what I’m saying is that the level of creativity and innovation that surrounds theme marketplaces is a bit stale. […]
Tunnel Vision: WordPress as Application Framework
Matt Mullenweg seems to see a version of WordPress that’s always 2-3 years away, and rightly so. And, as he—or someone else of note in the WordPress community—introduces ideas, the blogging community of developers usually engages in long-form argumentation (blog ‘posts’) about the merits of these ideas. Many times, this argumentation is in-depth and informative; sometimes we get off track and shortchange the idea. This past year brought us plenty of discussion on WordPress as an application framework, and the conversation is continuing on into the new year (thanks in no small part to Matt’s interview at LeWeb 2012). Smart, established developers are talking about the utility of this […]
