The WordPress Weekend Roundup
It’s been a relative “light” week as I look back on the past 7 days – although we’ve had a record amount of posts published this past week the other sources of news articles has been relatively small. And when I say “small” I don’t mean small-small as there’s always a lot going on. Just compared to the previous week I suppose. I’m rambling. In anycase, here are some great articles that you may have missed that we didn’t cover – and don’t forget to enter into our BlogDroid Giveaway!
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
Whew. Another week, come and gone. It’s getting faster it seems, right? I mean, it’s already February! Where did the first month go and how are we almost half-way through the second? There have been a lot of great conversations and great content being shared all over the place and we couldn’t possibly have gotten to it all – so in our typical fashion, here’s our Weekend Roundup:
WooCommerce to Go Hosted Platform?
This morning many people were greeted with an interesting question posed by Adii of WooThemes: We’re toying with the idea of building a hosted version of WooCommerce, which has all the benefits of a downloadable product (flexible, customizable templating) along with the benefits of a 1-click setup experience. So we’d essentially take care of all the work & you’d just start with the customization and implementation of your project’s goals. Instead of once-off costs (which is the case with WooCommerce themes & extensions now), we’ll have different monthly pricing plans which will include access to various themes & extensions. Direct […]
WooThemes Looks Into Their Crystal Ball 2013
WooThemes took a look into the future for 2013 and shared what they believe will be up for them this year as well as what you can begin to expect. Adii starts by admitting some of the challenges they had last year as well as some of the things they did poorly: As I said late last year, we screwed up and we’re sorry about that. 2012 has however created a bigger, better & stronger WooTeam & WooThemes and we’re hoping to carry that momentum into this year. … From our side, we commit to be brutally honest and totally […]
WooCommerce Breaks 500,000 Downloads, Flash Sale
After WooCommerce has broken the half-a-million mark in downloads the WooThemes Team has decided to celebrate in style by offering 50% of all WooCommerce extensions – just use WC500K and you should be all set! Congrats to the WooThemes Team and their success on their very effective plugin. We’re using it here at WP Daily and it really is quite a magical plugin.
Sensei: Welcoming Instructional Ninjas
Monday morning the fine fellas at WooThemes released a new Learning Management System (LMS) plugin called Sensei. If you read my post about e-learning and WordPress, you recall that I wrote about another plugin, WP Courseware from Fly Plugins. At the time I wrote about WP Courseware, it didn’t support quizzes, which meant you had to create them on your own (using a plugin like Gravity Forms). But today that’s different, because WP Courseware has been aggressively improving its own plugin. So which one do you choose?
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
In our usual fashion we’re collecting and sharing with you guys some of the news that came through our channels (and that darn Submit News button) that we weren’t able to cover in the past week – there are always great stories and great WordPress-centric content that still deserves a bit of attention. Last week there was a lot of feedback about the style of which we present this information – such as removing the pagination and changing the order of images with titles (thanks @ChrisWallace, @Norcross, @Drewapicture and others. Those were great suggestions and so we’ll test it out […]

2012, The Year I Joined WooThemes
On the 1st of April 2012, I was one of six new hires joining the WooThemes team, raising the total number of WooThemes team members to 23. It has been an amazing ride so far and the approaching end of this year made me realize yet again what a great decision it was to jump on the WooThemes train. The end of a year is always a great way to reflect on what happened. When I joined WooThemes, I planned on writing multiple blog posts on what I was working on, what I liked most and other post related to […]
