The Globalization Of WordPress: WordCamp Europe, Global Translation Day, And More
WordCamp Europe announced last week that more than 2000 tickets have been sold, making it the largest WordCamp to date. The first 1700 tickets sold out in January, six months before the event, which forced organizers to expand the venue. Tickets are going fast — there are fewer than 100 tickets left. According to WP Tavern, “Based on the attendees confirmed so far, WordCamp Europe 2016 will have 58 countries represented, which is six more than the event had in 2014 and 2015. Automattic Acquires Majority Stake In Pressable
Automattic now owns a majority stake in Pressable, a managed WordPress hosting company. Though Automattic has been a primary shareholder in the company since April, Vid Luther, CEO of Pressable, handed over his shares. Because Luther owned 37 percent of Pressable, this is officially an acquisition. When asked about his departure, Luther explained how hard he was working without seeing much result. “This is the best thing that I could have done for my family, or myself,” Luther said in an interview with Post Status.
