REST API Will Not Be Included WordPress 4.6
This morning, the REST API 2.0 beta 13 was announced. It can be downloaded now from the plugin repository, or GitHub. Some of the biggest changes include that the Content-Disposition header parsing is fixed, and you can use compact links for embedded responses. The full list of changes can be found here. Inline Link Toolbar To Be Included In WordPress 4.5
In WordPress 4.5, you will be able to link text with an inline toolbar. Because this will replace the link modal, you can access it through the gear icon in the toolbar. It will now look like this: Along with the links, there are new text options: “We also added some more text patterns, or shortcuts if you like: `text` will change to<code>text</code> and — (or more dashes) will change to <hr> while typing,” the annoucement said. Modern Tribe announced today it is acquiring GigPress, a plugin for musicians and performers. Created by Derek Hogue of Amphibian Design nine years ago, GigPress manages live performances on WordPress. “I’m still kind of astounded at how many people use it, considering it was a thing that grew out of my own needs as a developer. New Accessibility Guidelines Mean A More Inclusive WordPress
The WordPress Accessibility Team announced this week that all new and updated code in core and bundled themes must adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (or WCAG) version 2 standards at the AA level of accessibility. Created by the World Wide Web Consortium, WCAG aims to ensure that the Internet remains accessible to users with disabilities. Until now, WordPress was on Level A, the most basic standard.
