Joe Boydston keeps coming up on the radar and that’s because he’s got a powerful message that many people need to hear. He was here in Atlanta for our event and shared a killer presentation that many people came for. He also presented at Reno-Tahoe on free speech, free press, and free software:
Gravity Forms Has an Update-Palooza!
Gravity Forms got a lot of updates in the last few days and I’m happy for it because we are using that great plugin in both of our new MVP sites, our Job Board and Pros Network. They’ve come out with four (yes, 4!) updates and/or new releases to their add-on assortment that continues to make this plugin a very catchy purchase – and without question we’ve already gotten our money’s worth.
New WP.com Theme: Wire
Is there any better way to wake up on a lazy Friday morning than reviewing yet another great theme by Automattic? Why the heck not. This one is fully-responsive that’s got a lot of similar looks to the Twenty Thirteen theme that’s already out for WP.com and coming soon for 3.6. Bold, simple, and great looking for full-width:
Popular WP Themes [Infographic]
The most popular WordPress themes? It’s hard to tell. There are so many different themes out there and determining which ones are the most popular depends on how you’re qualifying “popular” in many regards. Is it downloads? Is it membership? Is it ____________? Here’s one take on it in infographic form:
WP Tao? Learn The Ways of Jeff Starr!
Funny, I know. But serious too. See, a new book has just been released: The Tao of WordPress, which is a complete guide for beginners, designers, students, admins and everyone to get the most from WordPress. And since I was a long-time supporter of Jeff Starr via his Digging into WordPress book (which is a must have) I got notified that there’s a killer discount code of $7 when you enter DIGWP at checkout (I hope I’m allowed to share that publicly…).
2 Weeks Left for Google Reader – WP Alternative?
I first shared the news of Google Reader’s demise (and my alternative) already and it feels like forever and ago since the original announcement dropped. At this point I really hope you’ve moved over to a new service. Feedly has since been iterating on their product like mad dogs and have even launched just the other day their cloud-based solution that’ll ensure continuity and the continuing availability of your RSS reading pleasure. But there are some WordPress-centric solutions that you may want to consider as well – take for example this service which is getting more attention every single day:
Review: PixelKit UI for Lazy Designers
User Interface features and kits…these are not the most popular part of any web designer’s job. And if you are a lazy designer – well, at least someone who hates the time that is required to get UI kits done – you are always on the lookout for a better way. After all, the ROI from icons, slicers, controls, buttons and the other bits and pieces that make each project unique is rarely all that it should be. The time, the details, and the “getting it right” cannot really repay you in full. Of course, you might rely on outsourced […]

Looking for Even More Jobs? Tuts+ Jobs!
We’ve recently launched our Job Board and it’s been incredibly satisfying to see all the traffic and referrals being handed out every single day – in fact, we get so many requests daily now that it’s honestly hard to keep up with it (this is always the problem of starting a new property). And for those that are in a “startup” mode, like many freelancers and contractors out there, you’re always open to more work and more opportunity. That’s why Envato’s recent announcement is a really good one:
Slides: A Keynote Speaker's New WP Theme?
How many presentation slides have you built in your life? *Thinking…* Gasp, too many for me. When I used to work for the enterprise and even a large non-profit organization, I was building slide decks every week it seemed. For the most part most of them royally sucked. I broke every design rule imaginable and just did what most people do: Bullet point lists of content that bore people to tears. Well, perhaps it’s time to go WordPress-on-it and thanks to Otto there’s a solution that might be a bit more appealing than that last presentation that you did last week:
