A few tweets in and you can let your mind wander as much as you’d like, but it could be really exciting if we see WPCandy freshen up and make a serious comeback: @agriimony Hey Aaron! We love your designs at Society6! Interested in some illustration work? DM me for further details. — WPCandy (@wpcandy) January 28, 2013 Aaron Thong of Society6 has a sweet portfolio of previous work that has a very creative and different edge:
Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup – 1.31.2013
This is the last roundup for the month of January and I have quite a few new and updated plugins to share. The Page Template Dashboard seems like a good fit for those of you who have a lot of page templates in your theme. It also seems there’s a couple of recently created plugins with some updates, so check them out too. Here’s your list for today:
WordPress University: Would You Attend, Teach?
The WordPress world seems to need more teachers and learning resources. There are plenty of themes already. — Galin Simeonov (@galins) January 31, 2013 This is what I immediately thought when I saw @Galins‘ tweet this morning, which is neat because I wrote on my personal blog something similar along the lines of education recently: Closely aligned with local idea is education and this idea of IRL or elements of being fully present and physical with technology. Education is the hidden gem of the tech world as a trillion dollar industry that few have been able to really tap into. Education may be […]
Obox Removed from WordPress.com Marketplace
In a recent post by Ian Stewart helps clarify some of the issues that were brought up about theme companies like Obox who were providing their themes in both WordPress.com and Envato-based properties. The result was that Obox has been removed from WordPress.com until further updates are made from the Envato camp: Since it looks like this won’t be corrected right away, as of yesterday we’ve removed Obox themes from our WordPress.com Premium Theme Marketplace. So, as I’ve said this is disappointing. One day — hopefully soon if Envato can correct their licensing problem right away — we’ll have Obox back. […]
Giveaway: Smashing Books Bundle
We’ve got a lot of stuff to move into our new office space and a bunch of that is table top reads that our team love – you know, the books that you leave lying around on the coffee table and stuff, right? A lot of these books are going to be development and WordPress related but we’ve got a few that are related to leadership, team-building, and startups as well. We’ll have to take a picture of them all when we finally get them unboxed. But as I was looking through my personal library I realized that I had a few […]
Lance Willett: Finding the Perfect Theme
You don’t always get a presentation from an Automattician like Lance Willett and this one’s a great one to pass on to friends or new-ish WordPress users who might be looking for that “perfect” theme. You see, Lance is like the guy when it comes to WordPress Theme “wranglin’” as they call it and is someone that our team at 8BIT has worked with for the past year or so. He’s got a neat sense of humor too, but that’s entirely off subject. Now, we all know that there is no such thing as a “perfect” theme but the point of the […]
Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup – 1.30.2013
There’s a few new plugins to share with you on today’s roundup. It’s also #humpday everyone! It’s the middle of the week so be thinking how you can make Thursday and Friday count. It’s also a crazy weather day out there too. I got snow in Iowa and my teammates in Atlanta get a tornado. Weird. The Amazon S3 seems a bit interesting to me. I’m a fan of some cloud technologies, how about you? These guys and gals made the first part of their week count. Check out what they got done:
IRC + WordPress = Styled IRC Client Theme!
It seems that even your IRC client can be styled to give a little shoutout to your main love WordPress, right? Thanks to Ryan Duff who’s created a simple theme for the Colloquy IRC client. It’s nothing too dramatic as it uses the standard WordPress colors. Heck, you even have the WordPress logo in the background to boot. Why not. With two variations you can give your eyes an upgrade as there’s not much you can do to an IRC client to make it look drop-dead sexy.
