Nonprofit organizations around the world are catching on to the beauty and simplicity of using WordPress to power their websites. But aside from a few large foundations and universities, most nonprofits are very modest operations where every staff members wears many hats and where the “communications” line in the budget is nearly nonexistent. Enter WordPress: an organization can get up and running quickly and can start publishing their content right away. But in my years of working with nonprofits in WordPress, I’ve found that few sites really live up to their full potential. So here are two simple tips that […]
What Exactly is the Plugin Creation Blueprint?
I discovered this interesting via the Warrior Forum the other day, which is one of the first and one of the largest internet marketing forums in existence (and yes, I’ve been on the site a few times “promoting” things). But it appears to be a series or some product that will help you build your own paid or premium plugin to capitalize on that killer idea that you have, right? Apparently it’s 89% complete:
My Fortunate Discovery of WordPress and Why I Stuck Around
When I was thinking about starting a blog, I had no knowledge of the various platforms available to me. And I only knew of a few folks that were blogging at that time. One was my wife, and the other, a friend. My wife was on Tumblr and my friend was using WordPress.com. With the wide variety of platforms available, how does one know which platform to choose? I can’t even quantify how I made the choice, but I decided to go against my wife and went with WordPress. I’d like to say it was a wise decision, but I […]
Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup – 1.15.2013
Today was the day for plugins. We have a number of new plugins to share with you. It seems like a very diverse group today with a slider, tag clouds, related posts, tweets, and more. I know that these roundups are a little short on content, but I try to add some character to each one. These are everyday and can somewhat become monotonous. I don’t want that to happen. I was hoping that if we mention your plugin or theme on these posts, it would be great if you could drop us a comment and possibly share something interesting abou […]

You simply enter the command for what you want to do and WP Butler does the rest.
Online Dating, Social Media Etiquette, and Connection
In the above video Juliette, from another online dating service Zoosk, share her thoughts on social media etiquette which is relevant to not only online dating but online engagement in general. I thought it would be worth reminding all of us (myself included!) these very basic principles of being on your best behavior. Juliette’s Top 3 Tips for Social Media Etiquette: Mind your manners – Just because everyone else has bad manners doesn’t mean you need to as well! Think before you speak – Otherwise you’ll say something you’ll regret and once it’s out there it’s out there. Play well […]
Meet Sergio Ortega, Forum Volunteer in 4 Different Languages
I am so impressed with people like Sergio Ortega who give an incredible amount of time to random strangers in the Community Support Forums to give them a leg up on their blog. He has historically helped out in the english, spanish, french, and german forums! What a guy! My favorite question and answer asked in this interview is this, without question:
Daily Theme & Plugin Roundup – 1.14.2013
How was everyone’s Monday? Getting back into the swing of things or completely exhausted after a long weekend? I have to say I have a little bit of both personally. I’m sure the developers of the new and updated plugins or themes are feeling a bit wiped. I’m sure the work was worth it so they could share the following with the WordPress community. Let’s give them some props today. Shall we?
5 Ways to Make Money with WordPress in 2013
I get a dozen of mails every week from people asking “how can I make money from my WordPress blog”. Making money online isn’t an easy task but it’s not hard either. Most of the people start blogging in the hope of making some money, but more than half of them end up without making a dime. I’m not saying making money online isn’t possible, it just takes a lot of efforts that many people aren’t willing to do. In this post I am going to share some quick ways to start making a few dollars with WordPress in 2013.
A Change of Philosophy with the Release of Mimbo Pro 4
Mimbo Pro was one of the very first themes that I ever purchased. In fact, it was while I was still working in big business (Dell, Inc.) and I was using it as an internal proof-of-concept piece for a communications project hoping to prove to upper management that blogging was something that shouldn’t just be forward facing but also valuable for internal com as well. Mimbo helped me prove the project and we went on to custom build an internal solution that is still in place today. I have a lot of gratitude for those guys and the product that […]
