Whoa. It’s been kind of an “off” week with the big July 4th happening, but that’s ok. We’ll get back on track next week, right? in any case, let’s get down to business, shall we? Oh, and by the way, this is our 30th Weekend Roundup! Wow. Just think about that…
WPSessions: Learn How to Build a WP Business
We covered WPSessions previously and it seems like it’s gotten a great start so far with already one in the bag on WordPress plugins. Coming up is another great opportunity to learn and this time it’s with a great crew as well who kinda-sorta know what they are doing when it comes to building a WP-business: Join Chris Lema, Cory Miller, & Carl Hancock for a deep and informative look at how to build your business around WordPress. Learn how to take the plunge and start your startup, then grow it into a healthy team. The session will conclude with […]
Open for Voting: A Better Planet Feed
We’ve covered this initiative previously and I’m excited to see that Oli’s continuing to build steam and make good on his promise to deliver a better feed and curated experience for everyone. Now, he’s opened up some voting for including a few other notable blogs, like the following: WP Force Pippins Plugins Chris Lema Winning WP Bob WP WP Teach Matt Report WP Daily Themes I am personally a fan of a few of these and not a super-fan of others but the community will ultimately decide.
Did You Miss These Product, Plugin Updates?
Yesterday was a day of updates for a number of great plugins and solutions and if you’ve already an owner then you may have already updated natively through your system. But if you haven’t (or you’re not a customer yet) here are some of the updates that you missed and perhaps another reason to review these great products that are built by some of our community members here and all-around great people!
Lema vs Goldman: Business @ WordCamps?!
Ok ok ok. So much needless drama (and headline) – I’ll admit it. But I’m having a bit of fun here, so cut me some slack! But last night Chris Lema and Jake Goldman had a few keen words to say about WordPress and Business (and “amateur” hour). Hosted by Matt of Matt Report, I was initially invited to join in but was unable to because I had to eat dinner, which I thought was much more important at that very moment. Check it out after the jump – some great thoughts overall and I’m glad Matt was able to schedule […]
iThemes Enters eCommerce Space with Exchange
The biggest news in the eCommerce space isn’t Shopify with their v2 being released yesterday but rather iThemes and their new entry in the growing shopping space with Exchange. And they were greeted with many votes of confidence and praise, even from existing competitors. As one person mentioned, this is what’s so great about the WordPress community because we can pat each other on the back despite our commercial interests: Competitors who treat each other with respect because they understand that the culture of the community they’re in doesn’t do competition the way other communities do it. iThemes on-going challenges will […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
What a week. And, can you actually believe that we’re in the month of June already? 2013 is about half-way done already. So, the question is, have you accomplished everything that you had set out to do in 2013? Are you slacking? Get to it!
The Client Isn't Always Right – Win Back Your Profits!
You knew this already though, right? Many of us spend an incredible time helping our clients make the very best decisions when it comes to their business. This is addition to the work that we do designing and developing their properties. But sometimes we can get to a point where our clients are becoming ever-increasing sinkholes of time and our profits. It’s time we win back our hard-earned dollars and not overshoot. Chris Lema has a few thoughts on that:
2 WP.TV Talks (and Tips To Be a Better Presenter)
Like many of you I spend most of my time (and my living) sitting behind a computer and writing things with my hot little hands. I love the work that I do and I get to spend a lot of my time with a great team, which makes it all the better. On occasion I get invited to speak publicly, keynote events, and share my opinions about certain topics – I’m still baffled that anyone cares to invite me in the first place as there are many more professional speakers out there that can do a much better job than I. I’m […]
Most Crazy (Awesome) WP-Related Paraphernalia?
We are so very close to May 27th that it hurts! I’m so excited about all of the amazing 10 Year Anniversary Parties that are happening all around the globe, especially ours here in Atlanta – it’s actually really neat to see that we’re in the Top 10 biggest parties worldwide. This fact is both awesome and sad since I wouldn’t consider Atlanta to be one of the largest WordPress cities out there, but perhaps we’re a passionate bunch. In any case, we’re having a nice shindig planned and have a custom WordPress cake being created (I hope… who’s overseeing that again guys?!) and […]
