There’s been a thought brewing in the back of my mind for a couple years now, and after reading Give Back, It’s our Responsibility, Opportunity just a few weeks ago, I felt compelled to write about it. I’m talking about collaboration over competition, that we’re all in it together.
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
It’s been a pretty crazy week here at 8BIT and WP Daily but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t bee fun – we’re having tons of fun getting tons of stuff done, I just wish we had an extra few hours in each day to get it all sorted! This probably isn’t too far from what you guys are experiencing so I’ll just leave it at that, but I hope your resting his weekend and finding time to hang out with those that matter, like your friends, your family, and your bed. I know that I’ve already had my share […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
What a week. What a week. With a number of tragedies being reported all over the world it’s hard not to get pessimistic about the continuation of the human race. Actually, it’s hard to find motivation at times if you think about it too long. But great work is being done and there is more good out there than what’s being reported. So let’s keep it up folks! Stay positive – this too shall pass!
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
What a week it has been my friends! I’m not so sure about you, but this past week nearly killed me – trying to get back into the “groove” of things gets harder and harder and harder. But we survived the first week of April, didn’t we? On to the next one!
Microlancer Launches: Budget Creative Services
Envato piqued our interest a little while back when they were sharing that they had a new project lined up for creative services and it’s finally here. Microlancer, a “fast and affordable” creative services offering is not all that unlike the very popular 99Designs where designers can bid on creative work. But there are some key differences and the biggest one is that you get to choose the designer or provider before you start developing your creative brief. In other words, you can check out the providers first and then move forward strongly with one in mind. There are natural benefits […]
ThemeForest: 100% GPL, WooThemes to Join
And we all saw this coming. With all the news surrounding Envato, the GPL, and licensing, it was only a matter of time for the official announcement to drop, with the added bonus of having WooThemes join up as a launch partner: We’re happy to announce today that authors on ThemeForest and CodeCanyon can now choose to license their WordPress items through a 100% GPL option. To help us launch this new feature, we’re excited to have one of the most well known and respected theme outfits joining ThemeForest’s ever growing library — WooThemes! This is a day that many […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
This past week has been an absolute blur – busyness hit an all-time high today as I had a keynote at a conference early in the morning, my daughter’s soccer game, and 3 back-to-back-to-back birthday parties and then my wife had a girl’s night out while I took care of the kids. Whew. I’m drained. But it’s a “good” type of drained, you know? Hope you’re having a great weekend yourself. With that, here’s your Weekend WordPress Roundup:
Envato Updates Marketplace Membership TOS
Envato announced late yesterday that they now have updating TOS for membership into their marketplaces. The changes are “minor” so most people and authors shouldn’t have any issue. Things of note are listed in the announcement but a lot of clarification has been added so that the language isn’t confusing, such as changing “application” to “signing up,” and such things. If you’re a big-time player you’ve most likely reviewed the changes but for the average user you can continue on with your day now.
Envato Announces Tuts+ Hub Beta
Those Envato guys keep rolling out newer and greater things! They have grown incredibly fast over the last few years and it doesn’t appear that they’ll be stopping for a break anytime soon. But this new development is really getting me excited because it really hits the heart behind why we do things here at WP Daily – which is education and helping others achieve great success with WordPress. This new “hub” will be a central location for all of the Tuts+ Network. It’s a new platform that will make it easier for readers to find tutorials, articles, and more. […]
The WordPress Weekend Roundup
It’s been an insane week – and it’s been nothing short of a miracle. Finishing our Epic Gaming Mural, Holding our Jelly Event, organizing and finishing out WordCamp Atlanta (and the VIP after party), launching a Kickstarter Campaign, and managing all the other “normal” things in life – yikes, it’s just been insanity! We’ve been getting a few hours of sleep each night, if we’re lucky. As you can see, Chris is trying to recover… at 8:00am in the morning. But without further ado, here you go:
