The weekend is here! I have quite a few new and updated plugins to share with you on today’s roundup. My favorite by far is the Fartscroll that integrates The Onion’s fartscroll.js. I think it’s hilarious! Make sure to check out the other plugins after the jump!
3.6 Beta 3 is Now Ready for Your Tests
As announced via official WP News, WordPress 3.6 Beta 3 is now ready for your tests: Beta 3 contains about a hundred changes, including improvements to the image Post Format flow (yay, drag-and-drop image upload!), a more polished revision comparison screen, and a more quote-like quote format for Twenty Thirteen. As we had shared previously, this update includes the neat new audio oEmbeds via Rdio and Spotify.

My Experience with Stringer in the Wild
John covered Stringer on the site a few days ago. To recap, it’s a new open-source RSS reader that’s self-hosted so you can take control of your reader and set things up just the way you like them. I just so happen to have Stringer up and running on my own Heroku app and have been using it for a few days, here are my thoughts.

When I started blogging earlier this year, I wasn’t ready to make an investment on a paid hosting provider so I started a free WordPress.com blog. Free is better right? Not necessarily. With WordPress.com I sacrificed the amazing plugins and themes from the thousands of developers out there and control over advertisements and the lack of support for JavaScript/HTML embeds, except from “secure” sources such as Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, and a few others.
