Plugins come and go, but some have real lasting power. With the perspective of 2012 behind me, here are a few that made my life much easier. I hope they can help you too. A small note: I like to code most of my front-end effects myself. I don’t usually rely on plugins for galleries, carousels, tabs or the like as I find they usually make a mess of your otherwise perfectly semantic front-end code. Just one man’s opinion. But anyway, you won’t find anything like that on this list. Here’s my favorites of 2012:
How To Manage the Order of Your Posts
Arranging the pages in a menu in order is a no big deal in WordPress. Simply edit the ‘order’ value in the ‘page attributes’ metabox of the pages. Ordering the posts on a blog page? Notice: Changing Email Subscription Services
We’ve been using Jetpack’s built-in email delivery system but it’s way to limited and delivers every single blog post in an individual email the moment we hit “Publish.” This has annoyed a few of our readers already and trust me when I say that it annoys me as well. So, if you’ve subscribed via our Jetpack system and want a more manageable inbox, feel […]
Coming Soon: WP Daily Editorial Office
We couldn’t be more pumped as my team is getting prepped and ready to move into our new historic downtown office location right in the heart of Atlanta. We’ve been sharing a bit of the work on our business blog (here, here, here, and here) and how this new 3,000 sqft office environment is going to house not only our product development but also be the future home of a growing editorial staff around WP Daily. And that’s probably why I’m most pumped up about it – we have the opportunity to create that perfect publishing environment not only for ourselves but […]
WooThemes Releases WooCommerce 2.0 Beta 1
WooThemes has announced their release of Beta 1 for WooCommerce, their free plugin that is being widely adopted for many individuals and businesses. We’ve been using it and it does a great job of creating that simple eCommerce experience and checkout – we hope to use it more this coming year, especially with some of the new updates and features they plan on releasing for the next big update. Coen Jacobs, who helps lead that team, shares a few thoughts on some of the new things that customers and bloggers can expect:
