Crazy week, right? It’s been one for the record books for me personally as I’ve been attempting to finalize a Kickstarter campaign and project that has pretty much hijacked my entire life. At some point I’ll have a massive retrospective, but I’m exhausted with only a day or so to go. But naturally there’s been more news than just Kickstarter project – here are some of the things that happened this previous week that you may not have gotten to see. Oh, and by the way, make sure you’re aware of the big super bot that’s attempting to access your […]

Yup, I Survived a Whole Week of Mobile Blogging
Last week I had a weeks partial holiday where I travelled back to the UK (and then on to Barcelona). I saw partial as there was work that I needed to do but I still kept a long period free of any work. I love travelling light in airplane and usually take a laptop with me so I can work and be entertained on the go. However, after my review of MP6 and getting a Note 2 I thought it would be a great chance to test how easy it would be to blog just from a mobile phone. So before I […]
The 4 Stages of Emotion When You Update WordPress
I admit I’ve learned to block out the color yellow in my WordPress dashboard, particularly when it’s associated with the word “update.” This is what WordPress users know: keep your installation updated for security reasons, and, before you update, backup your WordPress files and database. Logical, good advice. It’s that second part, the need to backup your stuff and theoretically prepare for a possible WordPocalypse that makes people hesitant to update their installation. Concern and, well, laziness. I love WordPress. It doesn’t mean I haven’t had the happy experience of going ahead with the update and experiencing the four stages of […]
Upcoming Events Calendar 3.0 Release
One of the perks of working for WP Daily is that we get invited to check out new stuff all of the time. It’s really exciting and I love getting these sorts of emails. We received such an email the other day from Shane Pearlman, one of the main men over at Modern Tribe. (On a side note, I was able to meet Reid Peifer one of the other main men from Modern Tribe at WordCamp Atlanta, he’s a cool dude. You should definitely check them out.) But back to the email we received from Shane. It was a preview […]

Building a Lifestyle Business Around WordPress
I know, I know. There are probably some people already snickering about the term “lifestyle business” and if you’re one of those haters, give me a moment to share some thoughts first. When I talk about lifestyle business, I am not referencing the “buy my program and work five hours a week from the beach with your laptop” plan. We all know that’s only a pipe dream and a ploy to sell products that never work. What I am talking about is creating a business model that works around your values, beliefs, and desires. This definition is and should be […]
Dev7Studios Releases Uber Media Plugin
We capture new releases of plugins in our daily roundups so we typically don’t call out any specific plugin but this one came across our desk via Poststatus that was worth a second look. So what is it? Just another media plugin for WordPress? Well, yes and no. You see, with Uber Media you’ll have integrated support for Flickr, Instagram, 500px, and Dribbble and be able to drop images into your blog post with ease. For those that have accounts in these services then this might be an incredible boon and time-saver for you. Check out the overview video for more info:
