Happy #humpday everyone! Do any of you have something that you do in the middle of the week or the middle of the day to help you catch your second wind? Quad expresso shot coffee from Starbucks? Face palms? Nerf gun fights? Anything? Well, whatever they do, these authors were able to find it in them to power through this week. There are a few new plugins and more updated ones on today’s roundup. Check them all out after the jump!
Did IntenseDebate Lose the Comment Platform War?
It’s been a little bit of time since we last heard from IntenseDebate – and to be quite honest, I wonder what’s really going on over there at times. A few years ago there was a huge growth of 3rd party commenting platforms, all boasting crazy features that would blow your mind if you just took the time to install them. I know, I tried every single one of them at one point, even the ones that required you to pay for the service. But it seems that the amount of innovation or at least attention to comment systems have […]
Sucuri Spots Bad Plugin, Stirs the Security Pot Again
At this point in time you’ve probably already read the news that was brought to many of our attention via Sucuri who found a huge gaping hole in a very popular WordPress plugin (over 900,000 downloads) and that was being leveraged for ill-gotten gain, spamware into sites that ran it: If you are using the Social Media Widget plugin (social-media-widget), make sure to remove it immediately from your website. We discovered it is being used to inject spam into websites and it has also been removed from the WordPress Plugin repository. But the rub was that it wasn’t an “invasion” of […]
Can Your Ideas Align With Your Craft?
Jiro Ono, the famed master sushi chef, has said: Once you decide on your occupation… you must immerse yourself in your work. You have to fall in love with your work. Never complain about your job. You must dedicate your life to mastering your skill. That’s the secret of success and is the key to being regarded honorably. Have you decided on your occupation? The part of your life which will likely require more attention and thought than anything else? If you’re like me, at 29, you may believe you have decided, or possess a strong leaning towards an occupation. […]
Client Image Proofing via WordPress in 5 Steps
If you’re looking to use your WordPress website for client proofing, then this article is a great starting point. I had to come up with a solution pretty quick because the service I was using to host my proofing galleries for clients, decided to double their prices. For my purposes, the price didn’t warrant the service, so I canceled my plan. The steps I took to create a self-hosted client proofing solution are similar to what I will be listing below. However, being that I am fairly handy with coding, I used fewer plugins and implemented manual PHP code.
A Conversation with Chris Ames On Writing and Inspiration
Recently I had the privilege to spend some time talking with the one and only Chris Ames. Chris is the “product midwife” for 8BIT and happens to be one of my new favorite people. I got to spend quite a bit of time with Chris leading up to and during Wordcamp Atlanta a few weeks ago and I quickly realized how much I like the way he thinks. This might be an odd thing to say about another person, but it’s true, I really appreciate his perspective. His desire for clarity and his overall longing to be an excellent communicator […]

Easy WP Guide: Great for Customers, Clients
Many of us are looking to provide continuing education for our WordPress clients, customers, and even friends and family at times. But let’s be honest, if you’re a designer and/or developer then you might not feel like educating your clients and customers is the best use of your time or that you’re very good with doing that at all! So you’ll either hire someone to provide that continuing education or bite the bullet and spend a few hours teaching them stuff that might actually make you pull your hair out. Or wait, there might actually be another solution out there for […]
RichWP Framework Retires… or is Reborn?
Some interesting news today as Felix Krusch over at RichWP has sunset his RichWP framework completely as well as completely giving away the 12 child themes that he’s worked so hard on developing. Or has he? He’s retiring the framework in favor of a much more “lean, fast, and responsive” standalone theme(s) that are going to be coming out soon: Therefore, I have decided to make the 2012 RichWP FrameWork, as well as its 12 Child-Themes, available for FREE. That is right: get all of the RichWP FrameWork/Child-Theme packages for FREE. No strings attached. This promo will be available for a […]
