Earlier this month ManageWP invited me to do an AMA with the community. It was an interesting experience. Emily Schiola did her traditional round up on the top takeaways, but I wanted to take this opportunity to elaborate on some of the answers I gave during the AMA. To be honest, I was worried that I wouldn’t get a lot of questions. I already share a lot about myself, my story, and my process on social media, through blogging, and by appearing on many WordPress podcasts. To my surprise, however, I received a lot of questions and I had a really great […]
Introducing ‘Do The Woo,’ A Podcast Geared At WooCommerce Shop Owners
Bob Dunn, lovingly known in the WordPress community as BobWP, announced last week a new WooCommerce-centered podcast, Do the Woo. Geared towards WooCommerce shop owners, the podcast will feature tips and tricks, interviews with users and WooCommerce experts, and news that will affect store owners. Dunn will also give tips on how to use parts of WooCommerce, such as extensions in new and creative ways, so you always keep your shop fresh. Dunn got the podcast bug five years ago when he attended a local workshop. And then in May 2014, he started his first podcast, WP Breakdown, and it ran […]
How Social Media Can Be Used To Launch A Developer’s Career
I went into writing this article with wide eyes. “I’m going to find a handful of devs who have started (or propelled) their careers through social media.” And sure, social media has been a helpful part of many developers’ marketing strategies. But what I found wasn’t so straightforward as a list of developers with great origin stories. In fact, I found many who didn’t find social media all that useful at all. The insights provided by the devs I spoke with are even more interesting than what I originally hoped to find. A “Big Picture” Discussion About Social Media The […]
The Globalization Of WordPress: WordCamp Europe, Global Translation Day, And More
WordCamp Europe announced last week that more than 2000 tickets have been sold, making it the largest WordCamp to date. The first 1700 tickets sold out in January, six months before the event, which forced organizers to expand the venue. Tickets are going fast — there are fewer than 100 tickets left. According to WP Tavern, “Based on the attendees confirmed so far, WordCamp Europe 2016 will have 58 countries represented, which is six more than the event had in 2014 and 2015. Including micro-sponsor tickets, the countries with the highest number of attendees include Germany (8%), Netherlands (8%), UK […]

This simplifies the process of publishing Instant Articles from WordPress directly. Upon activation, the plugin ensures that “you’ll have a compliant feed of posts, wrapping your core content in the markup Facebook requires.” “The open-source WordPress […]
9 Things WordPress Developers Wish Clients Knew About Building Websites
We’ve all heard the client horror stories. You know, the ones that bring to mind a certain comic from The Oatmeal? Still, if you’re a client and unsure of what goes into the development process, coming to a place of understanding means viewing things from the developer’s perspective. To help out clients (and give devs some peace of mind), we’ve put together a list of nine things WordPress developers wish clients knew about the site design and development process. A look through this list ought to act as a bit of validation for devs and be highly informative for current or […]
An Introduction To Technical SEO For WordPress Websites
SEO seems to be getting more and more complex with every year. Already a bit of a mystery for many site owners, the fact that this field is constantly changing surely doesn’t make things any easier. Trying to stay on top in order to keep your website afloat in the search rankings can result in lots of sleepless nights. To conquer this feeling of uncertainty, it’s a good idea to take a step back and start from the very beginning. In the case of search engine optimization, that means looking at what is called technical SEO, which is the basis […]
5 Takeaways From This Week’s AMA With Josh Pollock
Josh Pollock, CalderaWP founder and Torque contributor, took ManageWP’s AMA stage this week. He answered questions about sci-fi novels, what he would be doing if WordPress didn’t exist, and his biggest coding mistake. Here are five takeaways. He Enjoys Working On Many Different Projects. Pollock has his hands in many projects and he admitted that he is sometimes frustrated he can’t get more done. He still seems to get plenty accomplished and attributes this to sleeping and eating well. And, of course, his undeniable ability to “bend space and time to his will.” Eventually, Pollock would like to move to a point […]
